Tragically, on June 14, 2025, Minnesota Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark were fatally shot in a politically motivated assassination. Rep. Hortman was a dedicated public servant who consistently advocated for policies and programs that improved public health across Minnesota. Sophie and Colin, children of Melissa and Mark Hortman, released a heartfelt statement that included several ways to remember Melissa and Mark. The first item on that list was to plant a tree in their honor. So that's exactly what MN SOPHE is going to do.
